Oh, it’s so magnificent. Seems like you need to frame it or find some other way to protect it, especially from discoloration due to dust, etc. Other readers should be sure to go to Flickr and look at JoWynn’s comments on different areas of the piece.

This is looking so beautiful. I’ve tried to do white and gold crazy quilts, but they have all ended up with color. I’m inspired to try again. Deciding what to do with a finished block can be the most challenging part of the design process. I’m sure it will look lovely whatever you decide.

Delicious! I’d say yes to some kind of really soft-feeling border or frame - maybe close in color to the background fabric, so as not to detract from the exquisite work.

This is absolutly beautiful, border or not. And if you really don’t know what to do with it…I know a sue who would love to have it. Can’t blame me for trying! It is lovely and whatever you decided to do with it, I know it will be beautiful.

It’d want either

a border that leaves a fair bit of margin, and then has delicate filigree ‘points’ pointing inward or outward?

(that’s what I see in my mind)

a border that picks up on the goldwork S somehow - tho it’d take forever to do a border in the same technique

Or a plain border, not to detract from the delicate work you’ve done.

I do see a wide margin in any case, because the work needs room to breathe.

I think it’d need framing. It’d be too delicate for anything else, wouldn’t it?

It’s SO gorgeous!!
