1) Five years after I collapsed with CFS, I wrote this article which was published in an issue of Crone Chronicles devoted to the theme of solitude. The editor gave it the title, which I do not like. I wasn’t writing about CFS, but about living in solitude, which CFS forced on me.
2) The next article was published in The CFIDS Chronicle a few months later, in 1999. This piece was intended to help other people with ME-CFS accept and adapt to the changes this condition forces upon us.
3) Last year Bruce Campbell, who developed a self-help program and book for CFS patients, wrote about his recovery from CFS. In response, I wrote a letter to Bruce, with whom I have collaborated, about my failure to recover.
4) This essay is about the ways in which ME-CFS has changed my life, changed me.
